Preuves humaines : Primarily self-reported use data and FDA/poison-control adverse-event reports rather than controlled clinical trials.
Preuves animales : Rodent melanocortin-receptor pharmacology studies.
Introduction et mécanisme d'action
Broader melanocortin-receptor agonist studied for pigmentation and libido-related research.
Non-selective melanocortin-receptor agonist engaging MC1R (pigmentation), MC3R and MC4R (linked to appetite and libido effects) — its broader receptor profile versus Melanotan I is both the source of its libido-research interest and its wider side-effect range.

Escalade et entretien : A dedicated weekly escalation and maintenance schedule specific to this peptide has not yet been published here — follow the dose range and frequency above, titrating conservatively from the low end, and consult a physician before adjusting.
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Protocol | subcutaneous | 1× daily, subcutaneous | 0.625 mg |

Reconstitute with 2 mL bacteriostatic water
Bacteriostatic Water (BAC Water) is the only recommended diluent. Do not dilute with sterile water, normal saline, lidocaine, or any other solution unless explicitly specified by the manufacturer.
Wash hands and clean the injection site with an alcohol swab. Pinch a fold of skin and insert the needle at a 45–90° angle for standard subcutaneous injection (abdomen, thigh, or upper arm). Inject slowly, withdraw, and apply gentle pressure. Rotate injection sites to reduce irritation, and dispose of needles in an approved sharps container.
Conservation
Store lyophilized (powder) vials in a freezer at -20°C, protected from light. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, refrigerate at 2–8°C and use within the timeframe recommended in your supplier documentation — typically 2–4 weeks.
Surveillance
Monitor for injection-site reactions and the side effects listed above. Stop use and consult a physician if severe or persistent reactions occur. This is a general monitoring guideline, not a personalized medical monitoring plan.
Effets secondaires
- Nausea
- Flushing
- Spontaneous erections (reported, related to the melanocortin/libido mechanism)
- Uneven skin darkening
- Appetite suppression
Contre-indications
- History of melanoma or atypical nevi
- Cardiovascular disease (theoretical concern given reported blood-pressure effects)
- Pregnancy
Interactions médicamenteuses
- Not well characterized in controlled human trials — most data is from adverse-event reporting rather than interaction studies
Sécurité
- Nausea, particularly during dose escalation
- Documented adverse-event reports in FDA and poison-control literature
- Purity and dosing highly variable in unregulated supply
FDA and poison-control literature document adverse-event reports; purity and dosing are highly variable in unregulated supply.
Résultats attendus et comparaison
Melanotan II is less receptor-selective than Melanotan I (which targets MC1R only), which is why it carries libido-related research interest but also a wider adverse-event profile. PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a related melanocortin agonist studied specifically for sexual-arousal disorders with an actual FDA-approved formulation for one indication — a stronger evidence base than Melanotan II for that specific use.
